Chicago Fire have signed Espinoza from CD Aucas - "Talented, young right fullback"
Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire announced on Monday that they have signed 21-year-old Ecuadorian right back Jhon Espinoza from SD Aucas. The 21-year-old will join the Fire on Jan. 1, 2021, and has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until 2023—Chicago have options for the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
“Jhon is a talented, young right fullback who will be a great addition to the Club,” said Chicago Fire sporting director Georg Heitz in a club statement. “With Jhon’s signing, we’ve added another player who will provide more competition and quality within the roster heading into next season. We are excited that he is coming to Chicago and look forward to working with him.”
A two times national team player, Espinoza is already Chicago's second signing ahead of the 2021 season. Earlier in November, the club signed Chinonso Offor from FK RFS.
