Nottingham sign Mangala from Stuttgart - 4th arrival from the Bundesliga
Promoted Premier League side Nottingham Forest have signed Orel Mangala from VfB Stuttgart. Both clubs made the transfer official on Sunday. The 24-year-old has signed a long-term contract until 2026 at Forest. After already signing Taiwo Awoniyi (Union Berlin), Moussa Niakhaté (Mainz), and Omar Richards (Bayern Munich), Mangala becomes the fourth signing from the Bundesliga.
The Bundesliga club will receive €13 million from Nottingham, plus €2-4 million in performance-based add-ons. Stuttgart will also receive 15% of any future transfer. The Mangala transfer means that Nottingham have invested €95 million this summer—€52 million have gone to Bundesliga clubs. In terms of spending, the promoted club is ranked seventh in spending this summer (overview).
“We have always emphasized that we take into account the economic circumstances, the sporting assessment, and also the player’s prospects when we receive offers, and then decide on a possible transfer," VfB Stuttgart sporting director Sven Mislintat said in a club statement. "From a sporting point of view, we obviously would’ve liked Orel to stay here longer, but the financial aspect and the player’s desire for a change ultimately led us to agree to this move.”
